The Flying Qilin
Appearing similar to a combination of a dragon and a deer, the Qilin, along with the phoenix, the dragon, and the turtle, is one of the mythical creatures in Chinese mythology. It symbolizes great fortune. According to mythology, the Qilin is gentle and kind, therefore is also known as the beast of kindness. Another legend tells the story of Qilin bringing offspring to the people. Hence, it is often alluded to blessings of descendants. In Chinese culture and history, many parents gave their children Qilin-themed accessories, wishing for protection of their children’s safety.
